Beard transplant in Antalya: a fuller beard that grows for life
A patchy or thin beard is one of the most common reasons men travel to Turkey. A beard transplant uses your own hair to fill gaps, define your cheek line and build a moustache that finally connects.
What is a beard transplant?
A beard transplant moves individual hair follicles from a donor area, usually the back of your scalp, to the areas of your face where hair grows weakly or not at all. The technique is the same FUE extraction used for hair transplants, but the placement is very different: beard hair grows at a sharp angle, almost flat against the skin, and follows a precise direction on the cheeks, jaw and neck. Recreating that pattern is what makes a transplanted beard look natural.
Because the transplanted follicles come from your own body, they keep growing permanently. They behave like beard hair in their new place: you can shave, trim and style them as you like once they have settled.
Who is a beard transplant for?
A beard transplant suits men who have patchy areas, a thin cheek line, a moustache that does not connect to the goatee, or scars from acne, injury or surgery where hair no longer grows. It is also popular with men who want a sharper, more defined shape that they cannot achieve naturally.
You need a healthy donor area with enough hair to spare, and realistic expectations. If you also have hair loss on your head, the donor area has to be shared wisely between both goals, and a good plan will think about that from the start.
How many grafts do you need for a beard transplant?
| Area | Typical grafts |
|---|---|
| Moustache | 300 – 600 |
| Goatee | 500 – 1,000 |
| Sideburns (each) | 200 – 400 |
| Cheeks (both) | 600 – 1,500 |
| Full beard | 1,500 – 3,500 |
These numbers are typical ranges. Your plan depends on how much natural beard you already have, the density you want and the thickness of your donor hair. Filling patches between existing hair usually needs far fewer grafts than building a full beard from scratch.

How the procedure works
- Design. Your beard line is drawn on your face and agreed with you: cheek line, neckline, moustache shape and density.
- Local anaesthesia of the donor area and the face.
- Extraction of mostly single and double-hair grafts from the back of the scalp, which look most natural on the face.
- Implantation at a low angle following the natural growth direction, often with DHI pens or fine sapphire blades.
- Aftercare: instructions for washing, medication and sleeping.
A full beard transplant usually takes most of a day. Smaller areas such as a moustache or cheek line can take only a few hours.
Recovery after a beard transplant
Recovery is usually easy. Small scabs form around each graft and fall off within about a week. Slight redness and swelling on the face fade within a few days. Most people return to work after five to seven days.
You should not shave or trim the transplanted area for around ten days, and you should avoid sauna, swimming and intense sport for a few weeks. As with scalp transplants, many transplanted hairs fall out between weeks two and six. New growth starts at around three to four months, and the final, fuller beard is usually visible after nine to twelve months.
How much does a beard transplant cost in Antalya?
Beard transplants in Antalya are usually sold as all-inclusive packages in a similar range to hair transplants, roughly €1,800 to €3,000 depending on the number of grafts, the technique and what the package includes. Smaller procedures such as a moustache-only transplant can cost less. As with any procedure, check who designs your beard line and who performs the implantation. The cost guide explains what a good package should include.
Frequently asked questions
Is a beard transplant permanent?
Yes. The transplanted hair comes from your scalp donor area and continues to grow for life in its new place.
Will people see scars on my face?
No visible scars normally remain on the face. Tiny marks in the donor area at the back of the head are hidden by your hair.
When can I shave after a beard transplant?
Usually after around ten days. Your clinic will confirm the exact timing.
Can I combine a beard and hair transplant?
Sometimes, if your donor area is strong enough. A careful plan is essential, because the donor area has to serve both goals.
Does a beard transplant hurt?
It is done under local anaesthesia. Mild discomfort and swelling for a few days afterwards are normal.
